I specialize in guitar for singer/songwriters, or for the student whose goal is to accompany singers (including themselves).
Basic skills include strumming, fingerpicking, flatpicking, scales, left- and right-hand techniques, major and minor chords in first position, and knowledge of popular guitar keys and alternate tunings.
After you’ve acquired some basic skills, the direction of your curriculum will depend largely on the style of music you’re interested in playing.
More advanced topics of instruction include chord theory, tab, notation, ear training, second- and third-position chords, preparing lead sheets, and jamming and performance skills.
