Philosophy

Music is for everyone.  If you love music and want to play, you can learn how. Wanting to play solely for your own enjoyment is just as valid as wanting to perform in front of an audience.  It doesn’t matter when you begin.  If you have a desire to play, it’s never too late to learn.

Many people feel a little nervous or uncomfortable when learning new skills and exploring their creativity.  I understand and appreciate this.  I provide a safe and supportive environment that makes learning fun, and helps you reach your own musical goals (and maybe even surpass them).

My approach to teaching shows you how to speak the language of music before you learn to read it, which is the order in which we all learned our first language.  I will show you that the basic structure of music is simple and accessible.  From your very first lesson, you will begin speaking and understanding the language of music.  As your skills progress, so will your music vocabulary and understanding of theory.

You’ll see the "big picture" right away, and I’ll get you playing (and even writing) immediately.  It really is easier than you think, and so much fun!  All that's required of you is a love for music and regular time to play.
