I specialize in piano for singer/songwriters, and popular style piano (comping chord changes from a lead sheet, or playing melody with the right hand and chords with the left hand).  Basic skills include playing major and minor chords in popular key signatures, left- and right-hand techniques, and playing from a lead sheet and fake book.  After you’ve acquired some basic skills, the direction of your curriculum will depend largely on the style of music you’re interested in playing. More advanced topics of instruction include accompaniment, intros and endings, chord theory, preparing lead sheets, jamming and performance skills, ear training, and notation.
